Choosing duty night vision
Tube class decides the image, and the variant decides the fit
Gen 2+ is the class where a serious duty image begins: strong light gain, clean resolution and honest tube life. Within it, the intensifier variant is selectable per optic — so the tube is specced to the mission rather than to whatever was in the box. Ask for the variant by name when the use case is known; ask us when it isn't.
What duty use demands beyond the sensor
A duty optic is carried, mounted, knocked and re-mounted. Three things decide whether it survives that: a mount that holds zero under recoil, a housing verified rather than assumed, and the daylight discipline every intensifier needs — caps on until dark, because a tube amplifies light and daylight is what ends it. Every unit goes across an alignment bench, a recoil stand and live fire before it ships.
Night vision and thermal are one kit, not a choice
Thermal finds a heat signature through brush and fog; an intensifier tells you what it is. Teams that work the dark run both, and the handoff between them is the whole method. Thermal handhelds do the finding; thermal sights put it on the rifle.
